Malpensa International Airport

Malpensa International Airport is located 50 km from Milan and is one of three international airports around Milan. The airport has two terminals. The greater one is Terminal 1, which serves most domestic and international flights, while Terminal 2 is mainly for charter and low-cost flights. Between the two terminals there is a free transfer on every 10 minutes between 5:30 and 00:30, and at other times it is on every hour. The buses are adapted for people with disabilities. Over 20 million passengers pass through the airport per year. In 2008, Malpensa together with "Leonardo da Vinci" in Rome remained the top Italian airport in terms of number of passengers.

 

 

Services

At the airport you can find bank offices, ATMs, exchange bureaus, post offices, and wireless internet in both terminals. At Terminal 1 there is a possibility to leave your luggage. The price is 3:50 to 4:00 euros per bag. There are various bars and restaurants, shops (including duty free) and travel agencies. At both terminals there are chapels and centers for medical assistance.

At the arrivals hall in Terminal 1 you can find tourist information, and information about hotels and car-rents. Fly Business Center is located at Terminal 1, which offers the opportunity for business meetings, catering, and translation and secretarial services.

It is thought about people with disabilities. There are available relevant parking lots, toilets, lifts, telephones, etc.

 

 

Transportation to the City

 

By Car

Milan can be reached by driving on road A8. The time duration is about 45-50 minutes, depending on the traffic.

If you want to rent a car, at Terminal 1 you will find desks of various companies, including Auto Europa, Avis, EasyCar, Europcar, Hertz, Maggiore, Sixt, Targa Rent, Thrifty-Italy by Car and Tirreno.

 

By Taxi

You can find taxis in front of the halls for departures and arrivals. The travel to the center of Milan is about 50 minutes and it costs 70-80 euros.

 

By Train

From Terminal 1 you can catch Malpensa Express, which leaves every 30 minutes to the station Milano Cadorna. It stops at several other subway stations. The first train departs from Malpensa at 6:45 and the last at 21.45. The time duration of the travel is about 50 minutes and the one-way ticket costs € 7.

A railway connection from the airport to Milan Central station and Milan Garibaldi can be done at Gallarate station, where on every hour there is a bus from the airport.

 

By Bus

In front of the arrivals hall at Terminal 1 you can catch buses to various destinations in and outside Milan. To Milan Central Station there is bus Malpensa Shuttle, costing € 7.50 for one direction. The time duration of the travel is about an hour. Also, there is a bus to the other Milano Linate Airport - ie. Linate Airport Shuttle eleven times a day. The first bus departs from Malpensa at 7:50 and the last at 00:25. The price of the ticket is € 8. There is a bus form Malpensa to Turin, Genoa, Novara, Como, Pavia and others.
